Did you see the amazing engagement photos we took? If not, you’ll have to go here and take a look first!
I was very excited to meet Mari and Tarjei again, and I was sure that this day was going to be amazing. And I was right. During the ceremony, right as Mari was about to walk up to the altar (yes, the most important part of the ceremony), the power went out. It got turned extremely dark, and for two seconds panic struck as I was trying to change the settings on my camera to realize there was barely enough light to focus. Right after they were seated the power turned back on, but the musicians (Mari’s uncle and cousin) were not able to get all their equipment to work, so they played an acoustic version of Bob Dylan’s “Make you feel my love” and it was magical.
After the ceremony we went to Høvikodden to take their portrait pictures around Veritasparken. Compared to the tropical heat of the rest of the summer, this was a relatively cold day, and we were practically alone in the park. Additionally, this location let us capture Kalvøya in the background, which is where the reception was held.
The dinner was exceptional, and there were great toasts and music throughout the night. It also started pouring as the night went on, and as we went outside to capture some late-night portraits the rain was coming down pretty heavy as well. But – it actually just made the photos more magical.
